Mad Men Series: A fashion Inspiration

So every body’s talking Mad Men and I have to admit its part of my inspiration list as well.
The show’s early 1960s set and costumes are enough to make even the most forward-thinking men and women swoon. Stopping by the official show’s website, I discovered a treasure trove of pictures from the seasons’ stunning costumes alongside commentary by
Mad Men Costume Designer Janie Byrant. So I had to share: we’ve repurposed these pictures and comments by Janie as she describes the era, the characters, and the delights of being the Costume Designer for one of the hottest shows of the 21st century.

Not like the writing and acting and directing already make the show incredible, but head costume designer Janie Bryant truly knows how to round out the storytelling with the outfits she chooses for each character based on their story arc. "Everyone thinks that Janie’s job consists of picking cool clothes, but she’s really a storyteller. She cares about who the character is and what we are trying to say about them.

The leading ladies are now fashion icons and are bringing feminine & sexy back. You got to have those curves to really carry the Mad Men look.
I love the grace and sophistication that just flows through all the pieces making it so effortlessly stylish!

By the early sixties, dress styles from the 1950s had exhausted all the possible bodice and skirt combinations. Features of this era included covered wide belts, halter necks, swathed draped slim sheaths or full skirts and both silhouettes used bold floribunda - tea and cabbage roses.

Fashion designers today are already raiding the archives of this show to woo young fashionistas across the globe. Let not all the pretty costumes take away from the drama in the make up and hair.

Why I am reminded of Aisha and Sonam Kapoor so much
