COUTURE WEEK GAURAV GUPTA

Gaurav Guptas show was not the best we've seen or should I say after Rohit Bal nothing seems to work for me.

Anyways here's for his debut couture collection, Gaurav Gupta has tried to showcase an Edenic fashion world with fairies and mythical creatures in a lost underwater forest and has used Swarovski embellishments on intricately self-developed fabrics like lace and yarn for a glistening sensual look. Perhaps it was the precision of the inspiration that accounted for the show's clarity.

Inspired by the ornate details of the Baroque and marine life, effortless fluidity is brought to life employing multiple fabric embroidery techniques, varied textures, complex-draping methods and use of metal chains on sensual fabrics like tulle, chiffon and satin... with the background music evoking an underwater ambience. The palette covers white, black, fuchsia, tangerine and blood red. "I haven't used a set colour pattern as couture collections don't go by definitions," he explained.
